20 February 2018
It was only last week when Xiaomi took the wraps off the the Redmi Note 5. And the device is yet to go on sale for the first time on 22nd February. But, the official TWRP recovery is already out for the device.
You might be puzzled that how is it even possible to develop an official TWRP this quick. Well, the answer is simple. The Redmi Note 5 which was unveiled last week is the re-branded version of the Redmi 5 Plus which was announced back in December(only China). However, this is really good news for buyers as they get opportunity to explore other ROMs soon. Yes, you heard it right. The developer behind the official TWRP also published a Lineage OS 14.1 build for the device.
The Redmi Note 5 is the successor to last year’s most selling smartphone in India – Redmi Note 4. It sports a 5.9 inches FHD+ 18:9 display and is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 whih powers its predecessor as well as the most acclaimed Android One device Mi A1. The phone comes in two variants, one with 32GB ROM / 3GB RAM and another with 64GB ROM / 4GB RAM configurations. But, both are backed by the same 4,000 mAh battery and runs on MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat.
The device will go on sale for the first time at 12PM IST along with Redmi Note 5 Pro on both Flipkart and Mi.com . And if you are going to buy the Redmi Note 5, don’t forget to take a look at official TWRP thread on XDA Developers.
